# Business card QR code that saves into contacts in one tap

1. **Fill in what matters** — Name and one way to reach you is enough. Every extra field makes the code denser and slightly harder to scan from a distance.
2. **Check the density** — Under the code we show how many modules it has. Above about forty-five per side, print it bigger or drop a field.
3. **Put it on the card** — The back of a business card, an e-mail signature, a conference badge, the door of your workshop.

## A contact, not a link
The code holds a vCard — the file format phones have understood for twenty years. It works with no internet connection at the moment of scanning, which matters at trade fairs where the signal is gone by ten in the morning.

## Nothing to renew

Card printers often sell codes that point at their own page with your details. When you stop paying, the card in someone's wallet stops working. This one is just your data, so there is nothing to switch off.

## Your details are not collected

They are turned into a code inside your browser. We never see the name, the number or the address — and there is no place where they could be stored.

## Questions people ask

### What exactly does the phone save?

A vCard 3.0 file — first name, surname, phone, e-mail, company, job title and website, each in its own field. Both iPhone and Android open it as a new contact with the fields already filled in, so nobody retypes anything.

### Why is my code so dense?

Because a contact is a lot of text. A name, a number and an e-mail take around a hundred characters; add a company, a title and a website and you are past two hundred, which pushes the code up several sizes. Print it larger or leave out what you do not need.

### Can I add a photo or a logo to the contact?

A photo inside the code is a bad idea — even a small one makes the code unreadable at normal sizes. You can put your logo in the middle of the code itself; we cut a hole for it and check that the code still reads.

### Will it work without an internet connection?

Yes, and that is the point of putting the data in the code rather than behind a link. The contact saves at a fair, in a basement or on a plane.

### Should I use a link to my website instead?

If you want people to read something, yes. If you want them to have your phone number tomorrow, a contact is better: a link needs a working page, a working connection and one more decision from the person holding the phone.
